Volunteer Opportunities
St. Charles School is blessed with a wonderful group of teachers that excel at their work. Their passion for their students translates into a nurturing and dynamic classroom environment where children thrive. Our faculty is supported by a staff of individuals that keep things running smoothly every day.
Encouraging family participation is an important part of St. Charles School. Parent participation is welcomed and appreciated. You can get involved in so many ways:
- Throughout the school day, including the cafeteria, recess and classrooms as needed
- The St. Charles Home & School Association
- The St. Charles Athletic Club
- Junior Achievement Instruction
- Scout Leaders
- Coaching and Judging
With demanding schedules and daily challenges, it can be difficult to find the time to get involved. With a wide variety of options, it’s just a matter of determining which opportunity works best for you and your family. See the link at the bottom for the Virtus Online link to register for compliance.

Child Protection Policy For Volunteers
In order to volunteer on a regular basis, we follow the guidelines of the Diocesan
Child Protection Policy. Volunteer requirements:
Authorization & Verification/Acknowledgement
All employees and volunteers must receive a copy of the Child Protection Policy and sign the Authorization and Verification Form and Acknowledgement page. The signed forms are to be kept on file at the location of service; the date signed is to be noted on the Compliance Checklist and sent to the Chancery.
Fingerprinting and In-Service
Employees and volunteers who work with children, regardless of their level of contact with children, must be fingerprinted and participate in our “Protecting God's Children for Adults” in-service program. Click on the link below to be taken to the Virtus Online Course Schedule, select "Youngstown (Diocese)" from the drop-down, and click the Select button. This will take you to the schedule page where you can start registration for one of the sessions.
Once you have completed the Virtus course and received your certificate, you may print it and bring it to Diane Schlatter at the School Office or email it to her at dschlatter@youngstowndiocese.org
